Lighting Upgrade at a Grain Processing Plant Using Swivelpole™

Project Overview

Malteurop’s Geelong grain processing plant required a lighting upgrade across several areas of the site. Many existing light poles had become difficult to access using traditional maintenance methods. Swivelpole™ lowering pole solutions were selected to allow safer, platform level access to light fixtures across the site.

Challenges

Malteurop faced difficult to access lighting poles where traditional access and maintenance methods could not be used safely or efficiently. Lighting upgrades across several areas of the plant had been delayed as a result, with no practical path to routine maintenance once fittings were in place.

Solution

Using the Swivelpole™ Pole Conversion Tool Kit (PCTK), 40 existing rigid poles were safely converted to lowering poles, allowing light fittings to be upgraded and maintained from walkway level. This eliminated the need for elevated access equipment across those areas of the site and created a repeatable, safe maintenance process going forward.

Outcomes

• 40 poles successfully converted; lighting upgraded in difficult to access areas.
• Site safety improved by eliminating hazardous access requirements.
• A practical, long-term maintenance solution established.

The site has identified more than 70 additional poles requiring conversion. Malteurop has also indicated strong potential for rolling out Swivelpole™ solutions across their global operations, with information already shared with teams in Europe and initial contact made with sites in New Zealand.
