Project Overview

The Mandurah Gordon Road Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) upgrade project, initiated in October 2022 and expected to be completed in early 2025, involves significant enhancements to the existing infrastructure. Guidera O'Connor is leading the design and construction for this upgrade, which includes various improvements to ensure the facility meets actual and future capacity for wastewater treatment. A notable aspect of this project is the installation of Swivelpole™ S1 M1 poles, which allows quick and easy access to light fixtures. The water treatment plant has embraced Swivelpole™ since its inception and currently has older models on the site that have been in operation for about 20 years.

Products Used

Swivelpole™ S1 M1 stanchion mounted poles with LED light fixtures, specifically for illuminating the Bioselector and Dissolved Air Flotation Thickener (DAFT) areas of the facility.

Challenges

The site presents unique challenges, particularly due to the presence of chemicals and the need for regular maintenance of lighting fixtures. The installation of Swivelpole™ S1 M1 poles will meet current operational needs while saving time and money on future maintenance.

Solution

The introduction of Swivelpole™ S1 M1 poles allows for safe and easy access to light fixtures, minimising the need for additional access equipment such as ladders or scaffolding. With access at standing height, our maintenance team can conduct quick checks and perform necessary work on the lights without the hassle of permits or extensive setup. This design enables us to efficiently review multiple fixtures in a single visit, significantly reducing the time spent compared to traditional methods that require setting up scaffolding for each individual light.

Results

The Swivelpole™ installation has streamlined maintenance processes, enabling quick access to lighting and supporting adherence to maintenance schedules. The poles have proven effective in the harsh chemical environment of the water treatment plant, continuing the reliability established by earlier Swivelpole™ models.

"Our experience with Swivelpole™ has been positive. The easy access for maintenance has significantly improved our approach to site upkeep. We value the durability of the product, especially in challenging conditions. As repeat clients, we’ve seen the evolution of Swivelpole™ and look forward to continuing to use this innovative solution."
