Project Overview

Xylem required an efficient solution to install water monitoring equipment at a riverside in a remote location in New South Wales, Australia. The challenge was to ensure that the pole could be securely installed, easily maintained, and able to withstand harsh environmental conditions. The team chose the Swivelpole™ Giraffe Pole™ G5 with Surefoot S600 16 pile footings as the ideal solution for this unique installation, providing safe access for equipment maintenance and minimising installation time and costs in hard-to-reach areas.

Challenges

The key challenges included installing the pole in a remote, rugged environment with difficult access, requiring a fast and cost-effective installation process. The pole needed to allow for safe maintenance of the mounted equipment, and the foundation system had to be adaptable to a variety of soil types without the need for concrete. Ensuring stability and ease of installation were critical.

Solution

The Swivelpole™ Giraffe Pole™ G5 offered the perfect solution, providing a safe and easy way to lower the equipment for routine maintenance. With its secure locking mechanism, it allowed for controlled lowering without the need for ladders or additional personnel. The Surefoot S600 16 pile footing system provided a concrete-free foundation that could be rapidly installed in diverse soil conditions, greatly reducing labour costs and installation time.

Results

The installation was completed quickly, with minimal disruption to the surrounding environment. The Swivelpole™ Giraffe Pole™ G5 provided stable, secure mounting for the water monitoring equipment, while the Surefoot footing system ensured a solid foundation without the need for heavy machinery or concrete. The system also offered easy access to the equipment for maintenance, improving safety and reducing long-term maintenance costs.
