Case StudiesCITIC Pacific Vehicle HVPT - Enhancing Fleet Connectivity and Safety at Sino Iron

Project:Sino Iron Project – Cape Preston
Client:CITIC Pacific Mining
Location:Western Australia (approx. 100 kilometres southwest of Karratha in the Pilbara region)
Year:2023
Industry:Mining & Metals

Project Overview

A solution was required at Cape Preston to install WiFi antennas and GPS pucks onto a fleet of vehicles. This need arose as the existing antennas required the removal of bolts and rubber mountings before they could be pulled up and off the lower section of the mast.

Products Used

Swivelpole™ supplied approximately 50 custom vehicle high vibration pole assemblies.

Challenges

The objective was to deliver a solution that was solid and sturdy, yet flexible enough to withstand the harsh mining conditions experienced by the dump trucks. The assemblies also needed to incorporate support tabs for the cabling up the mast, and most importantly, allow for easy and practical lowering of the mast. This would assist with weight management and improve safety by enabling technicians to remain within guardrails/handrails for access and maintenance.

Solution

The Swivelpole™ design made access to the antennas, GPS puck, and cabling significantly easier. This not only reduced the time required to resolve issues but also created a safer working environment for technicians.

Results

The new setup enabled safer maintenance procedures and made it more practical for a single technician to complete tasks that would previously require two.

Feedback

The design and engineering process was responsive to the changes we requested. We also received strong customer service support throughout the ordering process.

Outcome

Swivelpole has transformed CPM’s approach to maintenance, significantly enhancing technician safety and operational efficiency.
